Project Coordinator Trainee

Employer: Ketza Construction Corp.

Location:  Whitehorse, YT.

JOB OVERVIEW

Reporting directly to the project manager, you will assist in the planning, coordinating, and executing the company’s development of projects through to completion. This includes coordinating architects, consultants, sub-consultants, subcontractors and acting as the liaison between the development and designer team and construction professionals.

You will be responsible for the communication of all contract documents to all necessary parties, updating drawings, product submittals, cost and risk analysis and many other exiting components that take a project to completion.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assisting the project manager and superintendent with overall project performance including cost, schedule, safety, and quality.
  • Assisting in managing subcontract documentation like contracts and monthly billing.
  • Performing drawing updates and ensuring all design updates are circulated to appropriate parties.
  • Assisting in overall construction coordination, planning, and identifying potential risks and resolving field technical issues.
  • Communicate and manage 3rd party vendors and engineers.
  • Performing quantity takeoffs and surveys to manage contract progress and reporting.
  • Developing and maintaining excellent relationships with our trade partners through activities such as issuing tender packages, defining scopes of work, answering inquires and monitoring progress.
  • Assisting with change management and change order process, including pricing, processing, and assessing cost and schedule impact.
  • Administering request for information and shop drawing and submittal process.
  • Administering meeting and producing meeting minutes.
  • Assisting with pre-commissioning or commissioning.
  • Assisting with overall project closeout, including archiving documents, maintenance, and warranty.
  • Providing proactive leadership of safety and quality programs.

EDUCATION

  • 2 years minimum construction industry experience, with excellent computer skills (For Beginner position)
  • Postsecondary degree or diploma in engineering, construction management, or related field. With minimum of 2 Years previous experience in construction industry (For intermediate position)

SKILLS

  • Knowledge of construction industry including equipment and techniques, drawings, and specifications, building materials, quality, safety, construction sequences and local building codes.
  • Ability to apply basic problem-solving principles to construction challenges and present solutions.

Executive Assistant

JOB OVERVIEW

Reporting to the General Manager, you will support the General manager with helping coordinate meetings and calendars, compiling data to prepare papers or presentations, and act as a representative to the general manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Overseeing all incoming and outgoing communications, including emails, phone calls, reports and internal correspondence
  • Filing important documents such as reports, meeting minutes, emails and letters in appropriate areas
  • Keeping executive’s calendar up to date, including adding events, meetings, scheduling and rescheduling of appointments. Provide daily briefings
  • Acting as point of contact for internal and external communications including vendors, colleagues, clients, ect.
  • Conducting research and creating reports on various topics based on the needs of the General Manager
  • Planning and organizing events and meetings internally and externally as needed by General Manager.

Safety Officer (Entry Level Position)

JOB OVERVIEW
Under the supervision of the Safety Manager you will promote and direct safety related information for projects for Ketza Construction.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Support and promote Occupational Health & Safety Program, COR Program
• Assist site operations with compliance to current Occupational Health & Safety Legislation and site safety rules
• Communicate and work with Site Superintendents on a regular basis relating to health and safety-related matters
• Train, Coach and guide site superintendents, employees and sub-contractors to ensure unsafe conditions/acts are corrected and safe work practices are followed
• Assist Site Superintendents with the completion of all required paperwork in a timely fashion
• Maintain all MSDS documentation
• Be up to date on all activities at site operations; provide a positive safety role model and support
• Facilitate and participate in site inspections and implement corrective action as required
• Ensure all safe work procedures are available for workers to review
• Conduct follow-up with injured workers as necessary – including up to date documentation, action items and return to work programs
• Assist with other duties as assigned upon completion of required site safety duties
• Maintain up to date and accurate documentation and records for all injuries/illnesses in the First Aid Record Book
• Maintain up to date documentation for site safety records on the site (investigations, near misses, incidents)
• Forward and file all paperwork relating to safety infractions, incident/investigation reports, site safety meeting minutes, Safety Inspection Reports to the Project Manager and the Safety Manager in a timely manner
• Providing proactive leadership of safety and quality programs.

EDUCATION

JOB OVERVIEW

Reporting directly to General Manager and Stakeholders the Business Development and Advertising Representative assists in new business opportunities and developing strategic relationships with potential partners and clients. The role also involves implementing and revising of advertising for the Company.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, update and review all marketing content including social media and website information and event advertising
  • Able to communicate and build new prospective partnerships for the Company

JOB OVERVIEW

Reporting directly to the Foreman or Journeyman Carpenter, as a Carpenter Apprentice you will work as part of the team to construct various sections of the building project.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Constructing, erecting, and installing wood and engineered formwork systems for columns, walls, suspended slabs, slab on grade and concrete stairs
  • Building hoardings and temporary shelters
  • Performing rough framing, installation of backing and sheet materials
  • Installing interior commercial finishing products, wall paneling, railings, bump protections etc.
  • Completing task hazard assessments and maintain a safe work environment
  • Working with or near chemicals, cranes and moving equipment
  • Assist Foreman in material take off and inventory of materials and tools for planned work
  • Train apprentices and construction staff
  • Studies specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required.
  • Follows established safety rules and regulations and maintaining a safe and clean environment.
  • Inspects ceiling or floor tile, wall coverings, siding, glass, or woodwork to detect broken or damaged structures.

  • Red seal Journeyman Carpenter Certification or working toward red seal certification
  • Driver’s licence and own transport

SKILLS

Journeyman, 4th year apprentice (Intermediate to Experienced Position):

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements
  • Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools

JOB OVERVIEW

Reporting directly to Lead hand or Foreman, as a Labourer you will carry various tasks on the construction site to support the completion of the building project.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate various tools and be willing to be trained on new tools
  • Carryout site clean up throughout the day
  • Load and unload materials
  • Assist carpenters and other construction site workers
  • Ready the construction site each day by preparing materials, tools, and equipment
  • Apply instructions for each job and adjust as directed by supervisor
  • Wear safety equipment (PPE) appropriate for the task and as required by company safety program
  • Always comply with health and safety regulations when on jobsite
  • Maintain a brisk and productive pace of activities to complete all assigned tasks within time constraints
  • Leave construction equipment and tools clean, organized, and stored in an orderly fashion after each use
  • Dispose of debris and hazardous materials according to local environmental standards and regulations
  • Aid other team members on various tasks if your duties are completed ahead of schedule

EDUCATION
